HAPPY SEPTEMBER
For your listening pleasure, feather & fernweh mixtape vol. 4 is a commemoration to Summer. Slowing things down as we make a transition over to Fall (or at least we hope so soon). September, a month to which most people would mark as the end of summer fun. Soon the the sun will fall over the horizon a little earlier than we'd like. Let's not be saddened by the shorten days, but be happy as we experience yet another sweet summer. Happy September everyone. (btw, it's my birth month!)

HAPPY FRIDAY
I'll be setting out to San Diego today to unwind and collect my thoughts. This past week was my final exams and I've been buried in school books all week. I need to be exposed to a different scenery STAT. I will try to update my Instagram feed periodically while I'm away. So, stay tuned! Have a wonderful weekend.

SATSUKI SHIBUYA // POKETO
On September 8, 2013, I will be attending one of Poketo's workshops, Branding 101 with Satsuki Shibuya. Satsuki Shibuya is a "multidisciplinary creative who finds herself in ever evolving projects ranging from creating one of kind art / objects, singing / songwriting to creative / life consulting." (Poketo) I started following her less than a year ago and have been an avid follower ever since. I truly admire her courage to let her thoughts transpires into words of wisdom. Satsuki's writing always resonate with me. Here is one of her entries via Curiosities and the Unknown:
POLARITIES
our external world exists with polarities — life/death, start/finish, good/bad, etc., but that in itself is just a perception.
unfortunately, because we attach ourselves to these polarities, especially the things we identify as “good”, it causes us suffering as we are unable to accept the changes happening around us, even though it is part of the nature of life.
if we examine closer, we’ll see that what we view as “bad” is the beginning of something good, just like in the saying, “when one door closes, another opens.”
we are so hardwired to believe that we must keep pushing ourselves to produce, to be somewhere, to do something constantly and consistently, which causes stress not only physically, but as an entire being. if we were to understand the cycle of life and that there will be moments of growth, stagnation, rest, rebirth, we’ll be able to embrace and flow with what comes before us, effortlessly and be at peace within.
+
I think she said it best and as always, ever so eloquently.
Not only am I anxious to meet Satsuki in the flesh, but to take home new knowledge. I hope to brainstorm with other creative individuals through this workshop and further expand my work, meanwhile staying keen to my inner self. It's time to activate my curiousity + creativity.

SCENES FROM THE WEEKEND
On Saturday, my friends and I were in Long Beach for a one year celebration at Make Collective & La Femme Vintage. In the evening we ventured off to Downtown Santa Ana for their monthly Art Walk. It's held on the first Saturday of every month with free admission. So if you're ever in the area, come check it out!
I forgot to load my camera with my memory card (I hate it when this happens!), but here are a couple of images from my iPhone. Enjoy and have a great Monday!

Baptism
I had the chance to share in a joyous day with my closest friends and their family yesterday. Together we celebrated their children's baptism with family-style Thai food at Thai Nakorn. The food was delicious! It was a terrific ending to a gluttonous 4-day weekend.
Scenes from 4th of July
Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend. It was definitely a good break, but it's back to reality we go. Have a great week!

COLLECTOR
I'm convinced I was a creative designer of some sort in my past life. I've concluded this myself based upon my passion for collecting journals, notepads, pens... basically anything & everything that would invigorate my creative juices. I typically walk into a stationary shop and would instantly declare, "I want it all!" (in my head, of course). If not a creative type in my past life, I might have a condition of being a hoarder.

PEACOCKS
Whenever I am in need of a place to clear my mind, the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Garden seems to always do the trick. There is something about being at a botanical garden that makes the world stop and nothing else seems to matter. I was also feeling the need to see peacocks. The L.A. Arboretum could be the best place to view these beautiful creatures in the flesh. They roam about freely at this location. I even saw a very vocal peacock hanging out on the rooftop that reminded me of "Kevin" from the movie UP. It was cool to see so many in one area. I snapped so many pictures that I'm pretty sure they thought I was annoying.

VSCO GRID
I officially have VSCO Grid! It is perfection. VSCO Grid is part of the newly updated VSCO Cam app. VSCO Cam is my favorite iPhone photo editing app to use for my on-the-go photography. It provides a variety of filters that emulates great texture as you would see using film. I simply love it.
If you would like to learn more about VSCO, check out their blog - http://vsco.co/journal. They would have more details on who/what they are better than I can explain them. I hope you will love it as much as I do!

LIFE STILL 005
This is one of my favorite shots from our Europe trip last October. It was during our last days in Paris. We were able to take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city from the rooftop of Arc de Triomphe. The sun shining down on us made for a real spectacular sight to see.

SEA CREATURES
Happy February! The following pictures were taken at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific last month. I always love seeing sea turtles, jellyfishes, and seahorses. These guys possess a soft majestic movement that instantly sets my mind at ease. It was a great way to decompress from all life's stresses.

LATELY...
I snapped during a hike one morning. This was during one of those very chilly early mornings here in SoCal where the air was super crisp and the sky was true blue. It was quite refreshing.
